This is an original work by John T. Cusack on gallery canvas with staple free sides. The painting wraps around the 1-1/2" edges to allow the buyer to display the painting with or without a frame. The edges have been painted to give the impression of a 3D image when viewed from an angle.
The 2nd Waffen SS, mount up for battle as they slowly move forward on the StuG III deep within the Ardennes forest.
"The Battle of the Bulge" as it was latter named, began as an aggressive German counteroffensive, with the goal of reclaiming the initiative and driving to Antwerp to recapture the deep water port.
On December 16th, 1944 some 30 German Divisions poured into the Allied lines breaking through and forming the legendary "Bulge" in the front lines. By the end of the failed German offensive both sides suffered enormous loss of life with over 75,000 US, and an estimated 80-100,000 German losses. This marked the final Major German offensive of the War, and left the German lines depleted of the much needed mobile forces to repel the Allied advance into the German heartland.
